Crossing bordersOnly Croatia and Slovenia are in Schengen. For the others carry your passport, allow extra time in summer, and tell your car rental company before you cross.
InsuranceBring your green card (motor insurance) and travel health insurance. The EHIC covers only Croatia and Slovenia.
